Founded in 1980, Bob Raburn is the owner and president of Bob Raburn Construction, Inc.

Bob was born and raised in Plant City, Florida.  After finishing high school at Plant City High, Bob enlisted in the United States Army.  For his service in Vietnam, included among several commendations awarded, Bob was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Two Bronze Star Medals.  In 1969 Bob received an honorable discharge.

Bob met Sally Knight in the Fall of 1969 and they were married in February of 1970.  Born in Tampa, Sally is an eighth generation Floridian.  Bob and Sally have two children: son Michael, and daughter Michelle, as well as six grandchildren.   Michael is just completing the Doctoral Program in Theology at Duke University; Michelle attended Hillsborough Community College; Michelle is taking classes from the University of Phoenix for her teaching degree and has a home based business where she handles customer service calls for a large corporation.

In the 1970's, before becoming a General Contractor, Bob owned and operated a van customizing business and did all the van conversions for Bob Wilson Dodge in Tampa, Florida.  Sally worked at the "old" Hillsboro Bank, (now SunTrust Bank) for several years, then took a job in the Data Processing Department at the Coronet Mines, (in Plant City), and was eventually placed in charge of the whole department, where she continued to work until the birth of their second child.

Deciding to pursue an interest in the construction industry, Bob studied for his contractor's license at Allstate Construction College, and then for the metal building industry at the University of Mississippi.  Sally continued with her own studies at the local community college and also with the University of Alabama.  Bob received his Florida Class A contractor's license in June of 1980.  In 1986 Bob Raburn Construction was listed among the top 10 builders for Gulf States Manufacturers®; and in May of 1987, Bob was the featured contractor on the front page of Metal Construction News®.  To assist the company in the building industry, in 1987 Sally obtained her Associates License in Real Estate.

After thirty-two years of quality construction; Bob maintains that quality by personally overseeing every project, everyday, and his attention to detail is second to none.  Upon visiting any of his construction projects underway, you will likely see Bob with his work boots on, actively involved in the every aspect of the project.

Referrals and repeat business account for a large portion of the company's jobs.   Bob estimates that 75% of his business is design/build, with 25% bid/spec.  Bob sits down with the owner to provide them with a building they want, using the most economical design and the highest quality possible; with a goal to fulfill the customer's needs, without giving them something they don't need.  Sally oversees the office and bookkeeping functions for the company.

Outside of running the construction business, hobbies include:

Bob: Bass fishing and restoring old cars, (Bob and Sally are the owners of one-1955, three-1957 Chevrolets and one-1968 Plymouth GTX).

Sally:  Making quilts, collecting antique quilts and bowls, working in the garden, studying American history, particularly the years of 1861-1865.  In the early 1990s Sally had moderate success as a writer when her book, "Daisies Don't Lie," was published by University Editions, Inc. publishing company; she just completed writing a book about her mother, Ruby Lee Mullis Knight, an exceptional Christian woman that overcame many hardships; this book, published by Tate Publishing, is available at many major book stores or online.  www.mamasamazinglove.com
